STORY:
This accent rug features the traditional Zapotec diamond design called ‘Ojo de Dios’ (God’s Eye). The four points of the diamond symbol represent the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Woven by a collective of female artisans from the village of Teotitlan Del Valle. This women's cooperative was founded to support women who have been widowed, have absent husbands or who have been left without a family. By purchasing this rug you are supporting these women who have shown incredible courage and conviction to create a new life for themselves.
This rug is handwoven with 100% organic wool and natural dyes from insects, plants, and flowers.
Each rug is unique and takes about a week to complete.
