Kenyan wood carvers craft these intricate nibble bowls from beautifully grained sustainable wild olive wood. The olive wood tree is sacred to Kenyans and appreciated for its beautiful grain patterns. Sold as a set of two nesting bowls, each piece carries a unique array of the grain and is finished with 4 pieces of batik recycled cow bone.
The meticulous carving techniques the artisans use have been passed down through generations, and they are able to work from the comfort of their own homes.
The income these women make from their carvings provides them with economic empowerment and allows them to provide for their families as well as benefiting their wider community.
